Crock Pot / Slow Cooker Apple Filling – Nadzienie Jablkowe z Wolnowaru – Recipe #187

Ingredients:



  • 1 kg of apples
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup of light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of hot water
  • 1 tbs of corn starch

Instructions:

  1. Peal and core the apples. Cut into chunks and place in your crock pot.
  2. Mix together the sugar, cinnamon, cloves, lemon juice and hot water and pour over the apples. Give it a stir and set on low for 8 hours.
  3. After 4 hours take the lid off, give the apples a stir and let it cook uncovered for the remaining time.
  4. In the last half an hour add the corn starch and stir. Let it cook until all the liquid is gone.
  5. Transfer hot apples into sterile jars (best are still hot from the dishwasher) and place on the towel upside down to cool down completely, I leave mine over night. 
  6. You are ready for some apple dessert!

  • Ania, hello my dear I have a question for you…actually a few…first, my slow cooker has a vent hole in it to vent steam, would I still have to take the cover off like you did? Secondly, if I were to use this in an apple pie, would I allow it to cool first since it is so cooked down? Or would I cook it less time and keep the apples more solid since they will continue to cook in the pie? Thank you for your time and I love watching you cook and all your lovely ideas and fun videos!
