Valentine’s Day Edition: Vanilla Pudding – Budyn Waniliowy – Recipe #131

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of milk
  • 2 tbs of sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 tbs of white flour
  • 2 tbs of corn starch
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • whipped cream, sprinkles and fresh fruit for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl put one cup milk, flour, corn starch, egg yolks and vanilla and mix until well combined. If you can’t get rid of clumps, run it through the sieve.
  2. In a medium saucepan, bring milk to a boil and add sugar and vanilla sugar.
  3. Stir until dissolved and almost boiling.
  4. Reduce heat and add egg mixture.
  5. Continue to cook and stir until thickened, around 2 minutes.
  6. Let it cool down to room temperature, covered with plastic wrap not to form the crust.
  7. Transfer into serving bowls and garnish with whipped cream and fresh fruits or store in the refrigerator for later use. You can use it as a base for a pastry cream.

Enjoy!

  • Hi Ania,
I made this today and so far it’s really good! However, in step 4 it says to reduce the heat and add egg mixture and continue cooking until thickened, while in the video it says to bring it back to a boil after adding the eggs. It was a bit confusing so I was glad I re-watched the video because it wasn’t thickening for me on low heat.
